Caborca Polio Trip
By: Ben Slingluff

Dear Rotarian,Have you ever dreamed of doing a NID (Polio Immunization) but felt like the trip to India was just too much? Well, we have an opportunity you might want to consider. For the past several years our District has been a part of a larger group of Rotarians from AZ and Southern CA that make a NID to Mexico each year.Rather than a week or more,it is a 2 day plus travel event. This year I have two seats on the tripdesignated for our District. The dates are Feb 14 -16, 2020. Costs for the actual trip is $175.00 plus travel expenses from Alabama to Phoenix AZ.The District will provide up to $1000.00 reimbursement per Rotarian. The past several years we have flown into Phoenix, AZ, stayed overnight in order to make the connection in Buckeye AZ (about 1 hour due west). Enjoy a lunch with your fellow travelers, board the bus for a full day ride to Caborca, MX. Friday evening you enjoy a great meal with the host club and get a good nights rest. (lodging is $100.00 US per night). Saturday, you board the buses and head to the local clinic and then on to the various villages you will be providing the Polio drops to the children of those villages. Following a locally prepared lunch on the Sea of Cortez you return to Caborca where after a brief time to refresh, off to a banquet prepared by the host club, plenty of adult beverages and wonderfully prepared authentic Mexican food. On Sunday morning you will board the buses and return to the US., Buckeye and back to Phoenix.US Passport required. You will be flying out of Phoenix on Monday as your arrival back in Phoenix is rather late in the day.Anyone interested in participating should notify me via e mail as soon as possible. I will place all the names in a bucket and have a drawing to determine who will be attending. To request an event flyer with additional information for the trip, please see President Cynthia. If you have questions, please feel free to contact either Andrea Saucer or myself. The drawing for the names will be held on 21 December. I will need a confirmation to attend that day.In Rotary Service,DG Skip
