DISTRICT ROTARY AWARDS
By: Virginia Meeks

Congratulations to Dr. Dell Goodwin who was recently presented the Rotary District 6880 Harry P. Hall Meritorious Award. This award was named for our very own Past District Governor, Harry Hall and was established in 1981 to recognize Rotarians in District 6880 who exemplify the motto of Rotary International, Locally, District wide, State wide, Nation wide, and Internationally in a distinguished and significant manner. It is the most coveted honor that District 6880 Rotarians bestow.
Dell has made contributions to Rotary on the Club, District, and International Level with her long hours of dedicated service. She has been involved in the following service projects of the Dothan Rotary Club: delivering dictionaries, White Elephant Sale, Salvation Army Bell Ringers, Senior Citizen Luncheon, Foster Children Project, Adopt A School Paper Project, Food Bank Soup Drive, Dorothy Hardwick Scholarship, 4-H boy and girl of the year awards, Habitat for Humanity, Polio Plus and Rotary Foundation Program. She has served many years in the Club, beginning as Club Secretary, Vice-President, President-Elect, President and most recently as Immediate Past President. Dr. Goodwin also served on the committee for the building of Dothan Rotary Miracle Field and Playground.
She has been just as involved with District 6880 and Rotary at the International Level. Dr. Goodwin is a Paul Harris Fellow Plus Two Jewels.

Congratulations to Mr. Ed Malone who has been presented the Rotary District 6880 Award - Jerry Brunson Unsung Hero Award. The Jerry Brunson Unsung Hero Award was established in 2004 by District Governor Robert C. Rudder to recognize the effort of Rotarians in District 6880 who serve their community and/or the Rotary Club for years "in the trenches" with little or no fanfare. Mr. Ed Malone is such a person and truly a gem. He is one of the most conscientious and caring Rotarians. He has proven to be one of the "best" in contributions provided "anonymously" toward success in attaining the goals and ideals of the Club, District and Rotary International. Mr. Malone is also an exceptionally engaging and interesting and warm person with tremendous strength of character and integrity.
He has been a member of the Dothan Rotary Club since June 1, 1964. He was only 24 years old when he joined the Dothan Rotary Club. Over the past 54 years, Mr. Malone has had perfect attendance most of those years. He is a Paul Harris Fellow Plus 5 Jewels. He can be counted on to participate in every service project that the Club is involved with including the following: White Elephant Sale, Foster Children Program, Senior Citizen Luncheon, Salvation Army Bell Ringers, Girard Middle School Paper Drive, Food Bank Soup Drive, Dictional Project, Rotary Foundation Program and Polio Plus. Mr. Malone greets and talks with visitors at Rotary meetings and shares interesting stories about Rotary. Recently the Dothan Rotary Club met at the Peanut Festival Fairgrounds on Kindergarten Day. Mr. Malone shared stories with the kindergarten students and was surrounded by the chilren as he spoke about Malone, Florida, named for his family.
Throughout the years he has served on many committees and he gets the work done without fanfare. Mr. Malone has reached and continues to strive toward the goals and ideals of the district as expresed in Rotary International's Motto- Service Above Self.
